Parish Council Planning Matters

It was proposed that planning matters should be more widely published and so each month, after each Parish Council meeting, there will be an entry
in the Lydden Vale News and also on www.bucklandnewton.com. Please be aware that due to the nature of the process, the information will probably
be out of date and it may be too late to make representations by the time it is published.

For those of you with access to the Internet, you can keep a check on new applications locally by clicking on the "West Dorset DC Planning Applications"
link on the Buckland Newton website home page.
Look under the central column below "Do It Online" and marked "I Want To Find".
Click on "Planning applications / decisions". Click on "West Dorset' and then simply enter "Buckland Newton" in the box marked "Town / Village".
You don't need to know a planning number. This will bring up all the latest applications, and clicking on the "Details" box will not only bring up the plans,
but also gives you the opportunity to send in your comments on any application immediately on line. If you are concerned about a planning application,
or whether you need to apply for permission, you are very welcome to either call the WDDC helpdesk on 01305 252492 or call Nicki Barker (345238).

PlanningAlerts.com - New way to find out about Planning Applications near your home using the Internet.

It is not always easy to know what planning applications are lodged nearby that could affect you enough to want to comment, either positively or adversely.
Even though the Parish Council now publishes local applications in the Lydden Vale News, this will not always give you time to comment back to the District
Council within their allocated time frame of 21 days.

If you have access to the internet and e-mail, PlanningAlerts.com is a brilliant concept. It is a national database of planning applications to which West
Dorset District Council and Dorset County Council subscribe, although sadly not all councils and not North Dorset DC, for those of you who live close to the
boundary - all you do is put in your postcode, chose the radius from your house that you want to be alerted to planning applications, i.e. within 200 metres,
800 metres or 2 Kilometre of the postcode and register with the e-mail address you want the alert sent to. The Alert will give you the name of the property,
the Planning Application Number and a brief description of the application. Links are also provided to view the plans and respond with your comments there
and then on line.
