Fire Safety Checks

You can sign up for a FREE Home Fire Safety check from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, online NOW! As part of our commitment to reduce deaths and injuries caused by accidental fires in the home, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service provide free Home Safety Checks. These involve a member of DFRS staff visiting your home and providing you with bespoke home safety advice on the use of candles, unattended cooking, electric blankets, overloading sockets, chimneys, low energy light bulbs and much more. We even fit or replace smoke alarms, if appropriate This is all free of charge with the aim of encouraging you to think about fire safety in the home. The new online form for requesting one of these Home Safety Checks can be found at www.dorsetfire.gov.uk. All you need to do is fill out the form with your name and address details and click ‘submit’. Our new PinPoint technology will analyse whether or not we can make your home safer and you will either receive a FREE Home Safety Check or Home Safety Information Pack, containing a leaflet on safety and an checklist for the home. In 2012, we attended 483 accidental dwelling fires or fires in the home. These could have been avoided if people were more aware of basic fire safety in their homes. Being aware of the dangers of fire and taking preventative measures could help save the lives of you and your family. Your home is full of potential fire risks; if you are aware of these risks you can ensure that you GET SMART and reduce the chances of a fire starting in your home. You can sign up now at www.dorsetfire.gov.uk or call 01305 252600.
